The Valley Trail is one of the most ambitious projects undertaken by the Union of Municipalities of Arcoub - Al-Harf, encompassing the core principles of sustainable local development due to its significant economic value and social objectives. The trail passes through eight villages, most of which are members of the Union: Majdel Maoush, Ain Zhalta – Nabeh el Safa, El-Werhaniyeh, El-Mraijat, El-Bira, Brih, El-Fouara, and Wadi El-Sitt. This strategic project contributes to the growth and enhancement of several sectors, creating a sustainable economic cycle rooted in the region’s key attractions such as its natural environment, biodiversity, historical and cultural heritage, village traditions, craftsmanship, and artistic endeavors. Key Objectives: • Promoting Tourism: Enhance the appeal of regional villages to tourists. • Economic Growth: Act as an economic driver for the villages it traverses and surrounding areas. • Sustainable Development: Encourage attachment to the land and foster investment in tourism, agriculture, industry, and artisanal sectors. • Job Creation: Generate new employment opportunities. As part of the project, guesthouses will be established, essential visitor services will be developed, and a commercial dynamic will be created to market local products. The Trail Experience Amid pristine nature characterized by clean surroundings, fresh air, and the soothing sounds of flowing water, visitors can explore the trail over long distances for one or two days. Along the route, rest stations, tourist facilities, and agricultural products from the villages are available. The trail’s course includes historical sites, natural landmarks, and rural stations that form the region’s main attractions. This diversity allows for multiple itineraries and programs to be organized in the villages and along their riversides. The trail has been designed and equipped according to the highest safety standards, ensuring the security of all visitors. Each village along the trail will play an active role as an attraction point, showcasing unique sites and facilities. Highlights by Village: • Majdel Maoush: Visit vineyards and a wine cellar for tastings (Glory of Wine Shot), and explore ancient churches. • El-Bira: Creation of a platform for souvenir photos with a panoramic view of the village. • Wadi El-Sitt: Starting point for river excursions, with guesthouses and a bus gathering area. • El-Fouara: Explore watermills restored to working order. • Bireh: Tour the mills and dine in a restaurant set within a mill, along with guesthouses. • El-Werhaniyeh: Visit the Assaf Museum. • El-Mraijat: Rest area and canal tour. • Ain Zhalta – Nabeh el Safa: Discover watermills, architectural heritage, guesthouses, restaurants, and a trail through the Chouf Cedar Reserve forest.
